Darin King
Chair
Darin King is a Quality Improvement Specialist at Fetter Health Care Network, where he leads initiatives that have improved cancer screening, chronic disease management, and maternal-child health outcomes. He has served as a Mental Health Counselor at the Medical University of South Carolina, providing clinical care and supporting behavioral health interventions for young people. Mr. King earned his MPH from Walden University (2022) and BS in Public Health from Coastal Carolina University (2019). His background includes public health program management, quality improvement, and data-driven strategies to advance health equity, with experience in population health advisement and statistical research. He contributed to a peer-reviewed study on SARS-CoV-2 in South Carolina, focusing on community outreach and participant engagement, while supporting data analysis as a Statistical Research Analyst at MUSC. There, he also contributed to TelePrEP and cancer research aimed at improving access and screening in underserved communities. His research interests include population health, quality measure optimization, and chronic disease management. Mr. King is a Certified Health Education Specialist, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.

Ni'Asia Hazelton Smalls
Vice Chair
NiAsia Hazelton Smalls, MPH, DHAc (Candidate) is a healthcare administrator, community health strategist, and doctoral candidate at the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC), bringing a systems-level perspective grounded in community trust, equity, and measurable impact. Her work focuses on strengthening connections between healthcare organizations and the communities they serve through strategic outreach, education, and innovative program design.
With a background in public health and over a decade of experience in community engagement, program coordination, and organizational support, NiAsia has collaborated with Federally Qualified Health Centers, academic institutions, and nonprofit organizations to promote preventive care, health education, and access for underserved populations. She offers board-level insight in areas including population health strategy, stakeholder engagement, program development, and evaluation.
As a Doctor of Health Administration candidate, her academic and professional interests center on the ethical integration of technology, particularly artificial intelligence, into healthcare delivery and health education, with an emphasis on patient trust, health equity, and chronic disease prevention in rural and minority communities. Her work reflects a commitment to aligning innovation with accountability, transparency, and community-informed decision-making.
NiAsia is also an entrepreneur and founder, leading initiatives that blend health advocacy, education, and strategic communication to support sustainable growth and community impact. As a board member, she is committed to collaborative leadership, responsible governance, and ensuring that organizational strategy remains mission-driven, equity-centered, and responsive to the needs of the populations served.
